Our Story

L’Artisan, the only genuine French Restaurant in Cheltenham !!

Why not enjoying a piece of France without going abroad? You won’t need a visa !!

Here is our news:

All the team of L’Artisan, Yves and myself wish you a ” Bonne Annee 2020″ !

* Enjoy our New Gastronomic “Tour de France”: Bordeaux, Aquitaine…
Bordeaux is a port city on the Garonne in the Gironde department in Southwestern France. A little bit of history…: “In 1152 Eleanor married Henri Plantagenet, 10 years her junior, and Henri then became Duke of Aquitaine. In December 1154 Henri was crowned King of England with Eleanor as his queen. Thus, Aquitaine, including Bordeaux, was linked to the English crown. It was an eventful marriage with numerous infidelities on the part of Henri, but he and Eleanor sired eight children, including two kings: Richard I, the Lionheart, and his brother John Lackland.”
This “Bordeaux-Aquitaine” Gastronomic “Tour de France” is on from Tuesday Lunch the 14th up to Saturday Lunch the 1st of February + pre-theatre on Tuesday and Thursday (order before 7pm). You will find some Nouvelle-Aquitaine Salad: (Confit Chicken, Chicken Liver, Egg, Walnuts, Confit Shallots, Croutons etc…), «Porcini» Wild Mushrooms Soup, Corn Fed Chicken Breast, “Bordelaise” Style (Bordeaux Red Wine Sauce), Atlantic Fish and Seafood Stew « Matelote » cooked in Bordeaux White wine, Cannelés with Armagnac and Prunes Home Made Sorbet etc…: 2 courses £15.95 and 3 course £19.95.

* The restaurant will be closed on Tuesday the 28th and Wednesday the 29th of January. We will re-open as normal on Thursday the 30th for Lunch.

* In September, we have been recommended by the SUNDAY TIMES !!. “The Cultural Centre of The Cotswolds is a frontrunner for families and downsizers alike, says Tim Palmer”… There’s also an excellent roster of places to eat, notably L’Artisan, Lumiere, the venerable Champignon Sauvage (undaunted by its relegation from two stars to one in the 2019 Michelin guide) and Prithvi, a high-class curry house)”.
